Full circle: Sharing my story at the event I once organized

Last November, I was invited by the non-profit organization BSNL to share my professional journey.

When I first joined BSNL in 2019 as a FameLab Switzerland co-organizer, I could never have imagined that one day I’d be sharing my career path at a BSNL Biotech Chat event.

This talk held special significance for me because, for four years, I was an active member of BSNL. I was both an event organizer and an eager attendee, seeking advice to ease the stress caused by the uncertainty surrounding professional opportunities after a PhD.

This time, it was my turn to tell my story: how I landed my first job after completing my doctorate. I had the opportunity to share not only my successes but also my failures and uncertainties, from my first year at university to where I am today.

The goal of my talk was not to suggest that everything is perfect after a PhD, but rather to emphasize that there are many paths to successfully transitioning into a professional career. With perseverance, whether in Switzerland or elsewhere, our doctoral work holds real value in the job market beyond academia.

I was also very proud to talk about Lormina.ch, its goals, and the achievements it has reached so far.

Thank you to the BSNL BioScience Network Lausanne team for inviting me to share my story from academia to my current role at Biopôle Lausanne.
